NB HALLOWEEN PARADE WAS
“SPOOKTACULAR”
If you missed the Halloween Parade this year, you missed a “SPOOKTACULAR” sight! The annual event, sponsored by The North Baltimore Area Chamber of Commerce, drew a large crowd to the Main St area Saturday night. The parade included The American Legion Color Guard and Auxiliary, followed by some very impressive military vehicles. The Zenobia Shrine Clowns entertained the onlookers, as they rode by. Participating Fire Departments from North Baltimore, Cygnet and Hoytville/Jackson Township blared sirens to the delight of many. Local and area organizations and businesses participated as well. There were many float entries and costume contest entries also. And the parade wouldn’t be complete without the wonderful sounds of the North Baltimore Marching Band.
Announcing duties were provided by DJ Dale, Dale Hinkelman. Dale entertained the crowd prior to the parade and announced the entrants as they passed by the Chamber booth during the parade. The North Baltimore EMS/Fire Dept once again generously provided donuts and refreshments for the community after the parade at the fire hall.
The theme for the parade this year was “Spooky Sports Spectacular”. In keeping with the theme, Mary Woodruff was chosen as the Grand Marshall in honor of her late husband Larry, who passed away from cancer in 2003. Larry’s dream was to see a field house built for the football team and that dream became a reality this year. A grand opening for the new Larry Woodruff Memorial Field House is scheduled for November 19th.
Lucy Trout was this year’s Princess. She is the daughter of Mike and Dawn Trout and is a third grader at Powell Elementary. Isaiah Boyd was chosen as Prince. Isaiah is the son of Marlon and Brandy Reyes. He is also in third grade at Powell.
King and Queen are chosen by Briar Hill Health Campus. Queen June Kaltenbach, is originally from Youngstown, OH. June enjoys volunteering at Briar Hill and loves to visit residents. King Don Stewart is from North Baltimore. He is an Army Vet and a member of the 60 year club at the American Legion.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Halloween Parade a Success!
Beth Williams was the winner of the 50/50 drawing held during the parade.
